The Barth Syndrome Foundation's Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the mission and purpose of the organization. Its duties include participation in strategic planning and making policy decisions, then securing the financing of them and the monitoring of their execution. Members must be willing to attend the requisite meetings, follow through on commitments, and participate fully in the decision-making process. The board also presents the organization´s image to the community and solicits its support in achieving BSF´s goals. Members of the BSF Board of Directors serve three-year terms. Megan Branagh
Megan became involved with BSF in 2013, after her middle son, Henry, was diagnosed with Barth syndrome just before his first birthday. Shortly after receiving his diagnosis, Megan started Happy Heart Walk (officially Happy Heart Week), an annual awareness and fund raising campaign benefiting Barth Syndrome Foundation. It is now a week-long virtual event in honor of Henry’s birthday that has grown significantly in both participants and funds raised over the years. As of 2020, Happy Heart Week has raised $350K and has educated hundreds about Barth syndrome and the critical need to find a treatment or cure. Megan brings her experience with this campaign to the Fundraising Committee for BSF.
Megan holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Texas Christian University. She and her husband, John, have three young boys and live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
