Hilary Vernon, MD, PhD

Assistant Professor, McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine, Johns Hopkins University and at the Kennedy Krieger Institute; Director, Barth Syndrome Clinic at Kennedy Krieger Institute, Baltimore, MD, USA

Dr. Vernon’s research interests include understanding intermediary metabolism in Barth syndrome and in disorders of branch chain amino acid metabolism. Dr. Vernon is the director of the Barth Syndrome Interdisciplinary Clinic at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. She serves on the Maryland State Advisory Council on Hereditary and Congenital Disorders and the NIH Working Group for Mitochondrial Models, and is on the faculty of the North American Metabolic Academy of the Society for Inherited Metabolic Disorders.

Dr. Vernon received her MD and PhD from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, USA. She completed residencies in Genetics and Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University, and a fellowship in Clinical Laboratory Biochemical Genetics at Johns Hopkins University. She is board certified in Pediatrics, Clinical Genetics, and Clinical Laboratory Biochemical Genetics.
