Miriam L. Greenberg, PhD

Dr. Greenberg is a Professor of Biological Sciences at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. She is an expert on phospholipid metabolism in yeast and brings a wealth of knowledge about cardiolipin that has and will continue to advance scientific knowledge about some of the underlying biochemical issues in Barth syndrome.

Miriam joined our Scientific and Medical Advisory Board (SMAB) in 2005 and has been an important member ever since. She has helped in the organization of several of our Scientific and Medical Conferences and frequently brings her family to attend as well. Starting with an original focus on cardiolipin and the yeast model system, she has been awarded 12 BSF research grants over the years to explore various topics in lipid metabolism that are relevant to our disease. She is a highly-respected researcher on the underlying science of Barth syndrome and has been successful in leveraging the BSF seed grants into additional, larger funding from other institutions.
